The results for Sunday evenings Club Championships have been processed. Looking through them I can see many performances that are outstanding and I think that all of us should be very proud of all of our performances.
The results sheet does not show all the performances swum on Sunday evening. There were a significant number of swimmers who made requests, most unbeknown to me, to be included in extra events, or to change those events which the swimmer (or parent) had indicated on their original entry form.
It was never the case that swimmers could enter on the night and therefore those swims which were not indicated on the entry forms will not be included within the results. However these times have been recorded and will be made available to those swimmers.
Only, those choices of swims which were indicated on the original entry forms, and which had been omitted to be entered into the printed programme by the volunteer team during the spreadsheet input have been included in the final results table.
In the main, where there was a choice of swimming in either the 50 or 100 or the 200 metres of any given stroke. Freestyle was the only stroke where some of the younger swimmers (9s, 10s, 11s and 12s) could swim in the 200m and swim in either the 50 or the 100 – not both the 50 and the 100. A swimmer had to indicate on the entry form which was their selections of distance.
I have re-examined the original format of the Entry Form and consultation with numerous parents has confirmed that all of the above was made perfectly clear.
The results will reflect the original choice of swim. If a swimmer has changed their minds on the night and managed to swim in the additional distance without my knowledge then this additional swim will not have been included in the published results.
In addition, for some swimmers there was a choice of either the 100 IM or the 200IM. Again, the results sheet will reflect the choice made on their entry form and, as above, any additional swims will not have been included.
I hope this clarifies any issues raised and in adopting this approach sets a consistent and fair approach to all the swimmers who took part.
Yours, as ever
